Vidya Balan’s upcoming movie ‘Begum Jaan’ on Friday was cleared with A certificate. Censor Board of Film Certification didn’t suggest any cut in the film. Filmmaker Srijit Mukerjee, who directed this movie, expressed gladness over the certification.
The movie is based on the widely acclaimed Bengali film Rajkahini. Apart from Vidya Balan, the film also stars actresses Gauahar Khan, Mishti, Pallavi Sharda and Ila Arun in leading roles.
The movie is shot in Delhi, Jharkand and Punjab. Produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, the film is scheduled to release on March 17, 2017.
Begum Jaan is a fictional period drama set during the partition of India in 1947. A brothel comprising of 11 women, their madam and others residing there are asked to be evacuated.
Story of the movie revolves around the lives of those women who decide to confront for their shelter even if it means hazarding their lives.
