Bollywood celebrities condemned the recent incident of mass molestation which took place on New Year’s eve in Bengaluru. Condemning the act of cruelty, actor Aamir Khan said, “The Bengaluru incident is saddening. We are hurt and ashamed that such a thing happened in our nation.”
Mr perfectionist further said, “We and every state government have to take the right steps and this should be a continuous process. There is no single solution to this problem.”
The actor was addressing the media in Mumbai at an event. While speaking to the media, he said, “In today’s times, those who molest women think that nothing will happen to them. When examples are set before them that of culprits getting punished and being thrown behind bars, that is when the situation will change and criminals will feel scared.”
Bollywood celebrities like Varun Dhawan, Farhan Akhtar, Richa Chadda and Taapsee Pannu hit out at Indian politicians Abu Azmi, who is Samajwadi Party MLA and Karnataka’s Home Minister – G. Parameshwara for their comments on women after the incident. The two politicians blamed western culture and women’s dressing for the incident.
